Sylvia Hoium, late of Weyburn, SK, passed away November 4, 2019 at the age of 79 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Murray Hoium; parents Nick and Elsie Ketter; sisters, Maxine McDougall and Pat Maracle; sister-in-law Gayle Webster; brothers-in-law, John McDougall, Frank Maracle and Boyd Hoium; mother and father-in-law, Carol and Henry Hoium; and nephew Jason Johnson.
Sylvia is survived by her sons: Loni (Faye), Aaron (Cheryl), Cory (Stephanie); her daughter Tami (Kevin) Reichert; grandchildren: Kelton, Ketter and Kenzie Hoium; Chanel, Reed and Danica Hoium; Colby and Adalynn Hoium; and Jarret, Jensen and Jace Reichert; brothers and sisters-in-law: Myrnice & Allan Johnson, Harleen & Graydon Penman, Sandra & Bob Wright, Leon Hoium, Randy & Denise Hoium, Debbie & Lavern Hockey, Verla & Lonnie Henry, Myles & Cyndee Hoium and Bill & Shirley Webster; niece Vicky Lockyer and children; nephews Dale McDougall and Randy (Anne) McDougall and children.
A Service of Remembrance was held November 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, SK with Pastor Victoria Mwamasika officiating. Urn Bearer was Ketter Hoium and Honorary Pallbearers were the staff of House 5 at Tatagwa View. Interment was held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK and luncheon followed at the at Zion Lutheran Church.
Sylvia was born on November 5, 1939 to Nicolas and Elsie Ketter on the family farm north east of Weyburn. She was the youngest of three girls, Maxine, Pat and Sylvia. She attended rural schools, Schneider School, for three years and Marmora School, for five years. In 1955, the family moved to Griffin, SK and in 1957, Sylvia graduated from Grade 12.
Sylvia worked three years at Sask Tel in Weyburn, SK and was employed at CIBC bank in Weyburn for 27 years, retiring from the bank in 1997. In 1962, Sylvia married Murray, and they lived in Weyburn ever since then, raising their four children: Loni, Aaron, Tami and Cory.
