Charles "Chuck" Phillips Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Daren Phillips, late of Regina, SK (formerly from Weyburn, SK and Alberta), passed away February 20, 2023 at the age of 62 years.

He was predeceased by his father Robert “Bob” Phillips; his mother Josephine “Jo” Kroetsch; step-father Ralph Kroetsch; his grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Chuck is survived by his children: Jesse (Melissa) Phillips; Noelle (Kory) McGuire; Kaylee Phillips (Tyler Wagner); his granddaughters, Mila Phillips and Penny McGuire; baby boy Phillips on the way and baby girl McGuire on the way; his siblings: Rod (Sheryle) Phillips, Laurie Phillips (Henry Williams), Janie (Pat) Mullen; several nieces and nephews; his aunts and uncles; the mother of his children Janice Phillips; as well as many friends and Local 488 Union brothers.

On February 20, 2023, an incredible man, son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather was called to his heavenly home. Chuck was born in Camrose, Alberta on December 28, 1960. He was a sweet and smiley child with a careless flare that resulted in numerous stitches over the years.  His vivid imagination made him a delightful sibling and friend.  He enjoyed biking and playing kick the can with his friends and like most Alberta boys, played competitive hockey.  His mother's shouts of “Whop it in there, Chuckie” are still resonating in the Fort Saskatchewan arena.  Chuck graduated from Fort Saskatchewan High School where his huge heart and fun-loving demeanor attracted many friends.

Chuck quickly obtained his pipefitting certification, and his strong work ethic led him to Weyburn, Saskatchewan where he met Janice.  Chuck and Janice wed in 1986 and had three beautiful children: Jesse, Kaylee, and Noelle.  Chuck spoke of nothing more than his children, how much he loved them, and how honoured and proud he was to be their father.

Until he retired, Chuck continued to work as a pipe fitter and foreman in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. He believed in hard work and was always thrilled to be name hired for various jobs.  Chuck enjoyed golfing, a cold drink with friends, and in his later years, being in church on Sundays.

Chuck was a sensitive, soft-hearted man who never judged another. His warm smile, kindness, and gentleness brought joy and comfort to all who knew him. We love you Chuck. You will be forever missed.

A celebration of Chuck’s life and interment will be held in the summer at Coleman Cemetery, Coleman, AB.

For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association, P.O. Box 3843, Regina, SK, S4P 3R8.
