Dorothy Myrtle Periard

Dorothy Myrtle Periard, late of Weyburn, SK passed away November 26, 2022 at the age of 91 years.

She was predeceased by her parents Roland and Myrtle Lund; husband Alphonse Periard (1970); son John (1983); daughter Louise (1971); infant grandson Dean Mann (1980); grandson  Jesse Periard (2007); grandson Ryan Bedore (2018); sisters, Lois Bjarnason and Eva Howell; daughters-in-law Myrna Periard and Bev Periard.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Dianne (Harold) Vilcu, Weyburn, SK and children: Vasile (Paula) Vilcu, Jeanette (Chris) Gaudry, Owen (Penny) Vilcu, Isaac (Robyn) Vilcu. Claudette (Craig) Thorhaug, Brett Vilcu; Elwood (Cheryl) Periard Sylvan Lake, AB and children: Kelly (Colleen) Periard Wayne Periard, Daniel Periard, Michael (Lori) Periard; Lucien (Marlis) Periard Weyburn, SK and children: Brendan Periard, Rory (Melissa) Periard, Jennelle Periard, Rob Lund, Janice (Kevin) Anderson, Amber (Chris) Tretiak; Philip Periard Weyburn, SK and children: Destin Periard, Michelle Ahenakew, Courtney (Tyler Trodden) Periard, Mathew Periard, Deana (Trent) Latham, Maggin Attig; Leo Periard Abbotsford, BC and children: Rob (Tammy) Periard, Regina Periard, Sonia Periard, Josh Periard; Elaine Periard (Ryan Wickenheiser) Sylvan Lake, AB and children: Jason (Holly Dorey) Mann, Cory (Nikki Frenette) Lisa Williams; Elizabeth (Dale) McPherson, Medicine Hat, AB and children: Colette (Javier) Martinez, Steven (Kara) McPherson, Lindsay (Jeff) MacDougall, Sarah Asprey, Amber (Colton) Kambeitz, Stephanie (Cody) Bohnet, Samantha McPherson, Joseph (Mikayla  Getz) McPherson, Melissa (Alex) Biemans, Mary (Esteban) Valle, Tylor McPherson, Anthony McPherson, Nicole McPherson, Cari McPherson; Jeanne Periard Weyburn, SK and children: Joshua Bedore, Curtis (Taryn) Bedore, Eric (Rachele Skoczylas) Bedore; Michael (Cindy) Periard Alix, AB and children: Sacha (Ryan) LeClaire, Elissa (Chad) LaRocque, Clayton (Samantha) Periard, Nigel (Chyrisma) Periard; John's son Bradley (Carley) Istace; Therese (Larry) Scott, Cold Lake, AB and children: Vanessa (Ryan) Cromwell; Lawrence Periard Calgary, AB and children: Jayden (Ashley) Zilm, Franki (Chris) Nault, Nathan (Ira) Periard, Simone Periard, Jordan (Robert Ferries) Auger; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren numbered over 150; her sister Janet Mazur; brother Ron (Audrey) Lund; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

We say goodbye to our beautiful matriarch knowing that she would not want us to be sad. Dorothy held onto a profound faith in God throughout her life. Her deep prayer life brought her to a close friendship with Jesus and we trust she will be made anew in His company. She often contemplated the beauties of heaven and liked to imagine green pastures and gentle flowing streams.

Prayers were held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy was held Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with celebrant Fr. Valentine Amobi.  Interment was held at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, SK.  Funeral luncheon followed at Lower McKenna Hall, 317 ~ 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK. 

In lieu of flowers, for family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Memorial Fund, 314 ~ 3rd Street, Weyburn, SK, S4H 0W7.
