Marlene Marjorie Anne Karpa (Tillotson) of Regina, SK passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms on March 15, 2026 at the age of 89 years.
Born January 3, 1937 in Kennedy, SK, Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard Karpa, her older sister Audrey Taylor of Regina, SK, and her sister Janice Joynt of Langley, BC; her son David (and Janiese) Karpa of Ottawa, ON; her daughters Leanne Karpa of Regina, SK and Diane Karpa (and Brad) of Okotoks, AB; five grandchildren: Levi, Jared, Alanna, Haley and James, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Marlene’s childhood was rooted in Kipling, SK. After her father, Harry’s passing, when she was just 12, Marlene and her two sisters were lovingly raised, with strength and devotion by their single mother, Elsie Tillotson. The Tillotson sisters loved to sing, dance and make music together. Marlene and Richard enjoyed a faithful marriage and a full life together for 68 years. Starting in Regina in 1957, together they traversed Western Canada as their family grew and settled back in Regina in 1996.
Marlene added so much beauty to the world through her many artistic talents.
In the 1970s, her art passion turned profitable as her pottery was featured in Calgary artisan stores. In Regina, her watercolor painting flourished, and she became an active member of the Brushworks Art Guild. With her beautiful voice, Marlene blessed the Lord and so many others singing solo and in choral groups.
Marlene and Richards’s years in Regina were especially joyful as the rekindled childhood friendships and made new ones through church and the art community.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 4:00 p.m. at Regina Apostolic Church, 808 Assiniboine Avenue E, Regina, SK in the multipurpose room. A light lucheon to follow.
Donations are not expected but flowers (for the memorial) or donations to Canadian Magen David Adom cmai.org (1-800-731-2848) are joyfully appreciated. Flowers for Marlene’s family can be delivered to Regina Apostolic Church service desk in the foyer after 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 25.
