Norman Kellett Obituary

The family of Norm Kellett, Weyburn, SK, want to share the sad news of his passing on June 16, 2021 at the age of 87 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Alice Kellett; and his older sister Vivian Beardsley in 1985.

Norm is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Kellett, Weyburn, SK; his daughter, Lori (Darryl) Beaton, Caron, SK; his son Chris (Cheryl) Kellett, Grand Cayman. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Matthew Beaton (Daniel), Richmond, BC, Jenna Beaton (Stephen), Moose Jaw, SK, Brittney (Ben) Taylor, Grand Cayman, Braydon Kellett (Melissa), Pentiction, BC; great grandchildren: Cody Usher and Evelyn Hagerty, Moose Jaw, SK and Elise Taylor, Grand Cayman; his seven siblings: Mildred Cholosky, Winnipeg, MB, Rae Grey, Delta, BC, Mae Neiser, Mississauga, ON, Florence Zahirney, Winnipeg, MB, Harvey (Maureen) Kellett, Langley, BC, Arlene Duczek, Beausejour, MB, and Bonnie Witzke, Beausejour, MB.

As per Norm’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.  A small family memorial will be held in Manitoba this summer, once Covid restrictions are lifted.

Norm had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball and curling.  He was even the catcher for the 1976 Provincial Champion Assiniboia Twi-Liter Aces Baseball team, which went on to be in the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame.  He also coached both minor hockey and baseball.  In later life, he still enjoyed watching sports, as well as reading and doing crossword puzzles.

He and Joyce travelled extensively for many years, including trips all over Europe, China, the US, all of Canada, and yearly visits to Grand Cayman.  His great love of babies and children allowed him to share his joy with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Norm spent his working life managing lumber yards beginning in his hometown of Beausejour, MB, then Treherne, Minnedosa, and Rivers, MB, onto Assiniboia, SK, and his last move to Weyburn, SK in 1978, when he accepted a position with Swertz Construction.

The family would like to thank the exceptional nurses and doctors in the Regina General Hospital High Acuity Area, and the Weyburn General Hospital for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, for family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Norm may be made to a charity of your choice.
