Ronald Walter Jeffery, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15th, with his loving family by his side. Ron was guided by his faith, dedicated to his community, steadfast in his friendships, but his family was his world.  He will be forever remembered by all as the consummate gentleman, with a giving heart of gold, a twinkle in his eye, and a big booming laugh.

Born in 1933 in Weyburn to parents Walter and Adah Jeffery, Ron was known as “Gump” to his friends throughout his school years and beyond. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Cleone Fleming, and together, Gump and “Toni” built a life together for 65 years.Their legacy of love shows in their six children, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Mike (1956-1973); Tim (Cheryl) Jeffery and family, Jason (Katie) and daughter [Juliet], Blaine (Samantha) and daughter [Evie]; Julie (Greg) Doliszny and family, Matt (Marianne) and Luke (Gabby); Steve (Marina) Jeffery and family, Quinn and Hope; Kathy (Ray) Erickson and family, Vanessa (Nolan), Tanner (Jaclyn), Chelsey (Lucas) and Brooke; Cyndi Jeffery (Randy Orange) and family, Dane (Catherine), Scott and Mackenzie.  Ron is also survived by his sister Doreen Wilson.

Ron’s career began articling at his dad’s firm WC Jeffery Accounting. He then travelled the province as a Ford Motor Company parts salesman. Hemoved to Weyburn Motors, where he was Junior Partner. In 1964, he purchased Prairie Agencies and continued to build the business until he retired.

Ron was a passionate community builder and volunteer. This was evident with his involvement as a founding member of the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show, the Director of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada, as President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan, the Chairman of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Weyburn Young Fellows.

Ron’s Christian faith was his rock. Both Ron and Cleone found their faith family among the members of the Calvary Baptist Church, and spent many years celebrating the Lord’s word, which carried them through several of life’s biggest challenges and darkest times.

Being active and outdoors was a constant throughout Ron’s life. From football and hockey to golf, tennis, and sailing, Ron was always up for fun. He loved to laugh, and never turned down a chance for a good visit with family and friends, especially at his beloved cabin at White Bear Lake.

Ron will be forever missed by the people he touched through his generous spirit, his kind and compassionate ways, and his tireless devotion to his family and friends, to his hometown of Weyburn, and to the business community at large.
