Ronald Stuart Metheral

It is with sorrow, the family of Ronald Stuart Metheral announces his peaceful passing on November 19, 2022 at the age of 89 years. 

Ronald was predeceased by his parents, Carmen and Mary Metheral; his wife of 65 years,Tory (Sidloski) Metheral; brothers Harvey Metheral, Sherwood Metheral; sisters Marjorie Heintzman and Audrey Wilkinson.

He is survived by his daughters: Laurie (Doug) Publack, Glenda (Jonathan) Kuhn, Marlo (Brett) Wilson; his son Tyler (Carey) Metheral; grandchildren: Jason (Russell) Avramenko, Micki Bry, Nathan Kuhn, Devin Kuhn, Alix Kuhn, Jacob Wilson, Cynthia Wilson, Kira Wilson, Mackenzie (Jenna) Metheral and Jarrett Metheral; great-grandchildren: Killian Avramenko and Xander Avramenko, James Dutfield, Jack Dutfield and Burke Metheral; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

Ron grew up on the family farm west of Weyburn and lived there with Tory, taking a lot of pride in keeping their yard beautiful and well groomed. In 2009, they made the difficult decision to move into town, enjoying their smaller and, again, beautiful well-maintained yard. Mainly a grain farmer, he often referred to himself as the “Mixed Up Farmer” as he also had a variety of animals plus his many collections. Preservation of heritage became quite important to him as he accumulated many antiques over the years and would welcome visitors to tour his collections, ride in the old vehicles, and take part in the thrashing demonstrations he held. Even though he was a busy farmer, he was an active member of the Weyburn Car Club and Weyburn Agricultural Society. Family was important to him so he ensured all the family played an important roll in all his adventures. With the grandkids, he continued to have fun, be silly, and taught them good values and how to enjoy life. He likely will be most remembered for the fun times hosting many gatherings and for the big smile he showered upon friends, family and strangers alike.

A Service of Remembrance was held Thursday, November 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Weyburn, SK with Rev. M. Barnabas officiating. Urn Bearer was Burke Sherwood Metheral. A Come & Go Social was held at Upper Grace Hall, Weyburn, SK.  Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK.
