Selma Bellavance Obituary
Selma was born on April 15, 1928, in Radville, SK. She passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021 in the Radville Marian Health Centre at the age of 93 years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Don, who passed away in 2007 after 61 years of marriage; as well as her parents Gunnard and Fern Nelson; and six of her siblings.
Selma leaves to mourn her children: Faye (Brian) Melby, Denise (Paul) Green de Montigny, Roger (Lu Bing Rong) Bellavance, Debbie Carlson, Brenda (Dwayne) Bellavance, Shawna (Keith) Chibi; sister Phyllis Cherpin; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. from the Holy Family Parish Roman Catholic Church, Radville, SK with celebrant Fr. Thuy Nguyen. Urn Bearer will be Roger Bellavance. Interment will be held at Laurier Cemetery, Radville, SK.
Mom was very ambitious. She was an aide at the Marian Home, and operated the Oasis Theatre for a number of years, all the while helping dad farm and build homes while raising a family.
She loved gardening and her flowers. She also loved crocheting, sewing, upholstery, quilting, and visiting with her many friends and family, and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed playing cards and the Seniors Club, where you would often find her.
There was never a time when there wasn’t an animal in our home, and she would shelter friends and families’ pets whenever she was needed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family and many friends. We would like to thank everyone who was part of making her life so special. We would sincerely like to express our appreciation and gratitude to all of Mom’s caregivers at the Radville Marian Health Centre.
