Walter Ervin Besler passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw, SK on March 23, 2024 at the age of 93 years.
He was predeceased by parents Adolph and Pauline Besler; siblings Alma Besler, Irene Kinch (Wallace), Lydia Schuck (Sebastian), Esther Besler, Gordon Besler, and Dolores Rahn (Clifford).
Walter is survived by his wife of 71 years, Eileen Besler; son, Allan Besler; daughter, Cynthia Lee; son, Stephen (Jolie) Besler; grandchildren, Misty (Adam) Schewe, Garret (Michelle) Lee, Nikki (Chad) Dickie, Amanda Svedahl, Falon (Kyle) Caron, Mandelle (Travis) Frederick, Woodrow (Brianna) Strickland, Casey (Shelby) Renwick, and Geramie Gaveronski; as well as 19 great-grandchildren.
Walter took over the family farm in the McTaggart area in 1948, and he farmed that same land for 57 years. He loved his years of growing crops and gardens, and continued gardening into his retirement. He was a sports fan, enjoyed playing and coaching ball, curled, and took a great interest in his children and grandchildren’s sports. In April 2023 Walter and Eileen moved to Moose Jaw, SK to a retirement residence.
A family service will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK.
